Warming, spicy and refreshing tea, a hot drink that is different to the usual teas or coffees.

Ingredients:

  • 1 fresh ginger

  • 2 pandan leaves

  • 2 cups of water

This recipe makes around 2 cups of tea.

Method:

Cut the ginger into thin slices, use as much ginger as you would like, the more used, the spicier the tea will be.

Cut up the pandan leaves to around 2 cm.

Add 2 cups of water to a small pan along with the ginger and pandan and boil for 10 - 15 minutes.

You can also add your preferred sugar or sweetener to make this tea sweet which goes really nicely with the spicy heat. I like to add coconut sugar or condensed milk to mine.

Once boiled, sieve the tea into your favourite cup and enjoy.

What does ginger tea taste like?

Commonly known in Indonesia as Teh Jahe, this comforting ginger tea is spicy, aromatic and warming. It's usually enjoyed with sweet biscuits or savoury snacks as the flavour of the tea goes well with different types of food. Depending on preference this tea can also be made into a sweeter version by adding sugar or sweetener or by adding lemon to create a sweet and sour taste. Many also enjoy adding milk or condensed milk for a creamier flavour. Whilst this tea is usually served hot, you can also add ice to turn it into an iced tea.

It is such a versatile drink, much like the regular tea and coffee. It's also a great option for those looking for a caffeine free alternative.
